It was quite surprising when I received a phone call from India this morning, congratulating me for an article in Manorama (One of the top 5 news papers in India and the most circulated news paper in Malayalam).

The article is about the 8 malayalees who received the MVP award from Microsoft this year. This list includes my name too. Here is a translated summary of what Manorama has written about me:

    Title: Bill Gate's people

If Pappachan says that he knows Bill Gates directly, practically anyone will laugh. Thinking of the absurdity of this statement people are likely to keep on laughing. But hold on, today this might not be as absurd as you think. Even though they may not know Bill Gates directly; Microsoft, the company owned by Bill Gates now has its men even in the villages of Kerala. These are the people who has received the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award. This award is given to People who work without a profit motive helping the promotion and growth of Microsoft Technology among the common man. This time there are 8 malayalees among the people who have received the MVP award. Other than a 600 USD award, MVPs also receive a free 1 year subscription to all Microsoft software. This time around there are 8 Malayalee MVPs out of only 107 MVPs from South Asia.

Tony started the community activities from his rented apartment in Chennai, giving free training to the poor students. Since the number of students increased very fast, the rented apartment was not sufficient to accommodate everyone. This made him start the online training.
